Shame is

shame is being on the edge,
always looking out at the vast blue but never taking a leap

            shame is letting someone else
shove you, and you stumble forward, tipping over

shame is falling face first onto
jagged rocks jetting out of harsh terrain

bones snapping like brittle wood, skull caving in, and front teeth splitting apart

            Oh, to feel shame.
